I started drawing simple diary comics in 2022, when I was recovering from major surgery, but it was in 2023 that I really embraced the format and felt able to draw much more personal work.
I love the simplicity of being able to draw what can be quite complex moments from life as a series of panels, and keeping them in a sketchbook (which over time, becomes like a time capsule).
Most of the diary comics I have drawn are single panels, or a short series of panels. I draw them freely, without planning or much thought. They are often messy, but I like that about them: that chaos is part of recording the moment.
